Diaper rash cream & baby powder?

Diaper rash cream is used to prevent it, right? %26amp; baby powder is used to keep his bottom dry. So would it be okay to use both diaper rash cream %26amp; baby powder when changing a baby's diaper? Is it even necessary? If so, which should be applied first?Diaper rash cream %26amp; baby powder?
I always got told that if your baby's bottom was rash free then don't put anything on it. In particular baby powder can cause it. The powder and urine combines to form a paste which does not get absorbed and makes the urine cling to the babys skin. If you really want to you can put on cream but I always think your better off saving it for when its really needed as you wouldn't see the benfit. I have never, ever had to put cream on either or my children. Its just the advice I was given and it worked. Its worth a try.Diaper rash cream %26amp; baby powder?
Baby powder is dangerous as it is put into the air as you apply it and baby can breath it in causing lung damage so if you use that you need to make sure that you don't just put it on, instead either get the lotion the turns to powder once applied or get the roll on baby powder or put the powder on your hand and apply it either way just don't let it be breathed in by the baby. There is no reason to use them both together. Diaper rash cream is to get rid of diaper rash not to prevent it. Baby powder is used to keep a bottom dry to help prevent diaper rash.
don't mix them, and as every one said don't use powder. together they will form a perfect breeding ground for thrush, and powder in baby's folds of skin will also be a breeding ground. wash baby well at each changing, using actual water if at all possible. and give baby plenty of nappy off time. use cream if bottom looks red when you are putting nappy back on, but try to use a good quality one. calendula works wonders.
Be really careful with the baby powder. If you shake it on it can get into the baby's lungs and cause a lot of problems. In the baby books I've been reading recently they say not to use baby powder and that it's not necessary. The rash cream should do just fine.
If there is no rash, you don't need anything but you can use powder if you want. If there is rash I use sweet almond oil... I found it worked better then any cream
