I have a rash that looks like eczema. What over the counter cream would be best to use?

THIS RASH IS USUALLY SEASONAL. I CAN USE A CORTIZONE CREAM AND IT GOES AWAY. THIS IS NOT WORKING ANY MORE. IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY.I have a rash that looks like eczema. What over the counter cream would be best to use?
Call your local pharmacy they will be able to recommend the best thing for you to use for that. Plus, if you describe it or show them they will know exactly what it is and what you need to get for it.I have a rash that looks like eczema. What over the counter cream would be best to use?
This is an old question, but I think it is important to note that the advice to take cyclosporin for eczema should not be given out without a disclaimer. Cyclosporin is a immuno suppression drug and should only be considered in cases of severe eczema. Report Abuse

Meh. You can go to a dermatologist, but I'll lay odds the doctor will tell you that you have an allergy and give you a prescription strength cortisone cream or an antihistamine.

You might want to try the following first:

Switch to a fragrance free laundry detergent and softener. Rewash any laundry that hasn't been washed in the last couple of weeks that you are going to use.

Try an OTC antihistamine.

Try applying a clay mask to the affected areas and letting it dry (not Aveda, there's too much oil in it) - leave the mask on after it is dried for at least an hour, then wash off gently. This works for me on eczema, because it extracts the allergens from the skin.
See a Dermatologist.
Try Eucerin Calming Creme
my wife has suffered for many years with this exact problem and recently changed to a new dr who prescribed cyclosorine pills for her skin condition. This has been a miracle drug! Her rashes are all gone and her skin is smooth and soft. I would strongly reccomend it to anyone with an eczema type rash. Talk to your Dr you will not regret it. Trust me. Cortizone based drugs are bad over the long term.
More than likely it is eczema or psoriasis, you can call your local health department or doctor and normally they'll just prescribe you corisone with a higher percentage of medication in it. That's what they did for my psoriasis. What happened was the condition got too used to the medicine so they had to increase it. Sort of like when you get headaches and you use ibuprophen and after a while they don't seem to help anymore, so you have to increase how much you take.
Best to get it medically evaluated, then know for sure what dealing with.

You say seasonal....as in solar dermatitis which is caused by the sun (spring/summer) and the only way to prevent it is sunscreens which contain both UVA and UVB protection. Also, many of the common skin care and cleansing products contain ingredients (mineral oil/petrolatum, artifical dyes, chemical fragrances, etc) which are irritating to the skin, and that includes prescriptions. I'm aware of a physician who had a child with eczema and tried everything including prescriptions which didn't help. She tried a herbal botanical line of products and it cleared within a few days/week or so.
My son has eczema and i use sigmacort 1% i use the ointment not the cream, i find it works better. So if it is eczema, ask if they have the brand sigma it works and its cheap. Cheers Katie
I have the same thing. It usually gets worse when I use bleach to clean with. I used cortazone for a while and it stopped working. I had to see a dermatologist for some steroidal cream. It works best.
